Our annual awards serve as the primary fundraising event supporting our non-profit initiatives at EnviroVoters. Our organization works year-round to build the political will and power to solve the climate crisis, advance equity and create a roadmap for global action. We cultivate and elect environmental champions, turn electoral victories into policy wins, hold lawmakers accountable, and build political power among all communities across the state to achieve climate justice.
Join us for an evening of music, drinks, and small bites as we celebrate this year’s Badass in Green Honorees alongside a room full of climate champions, activits, CA leaders, enviro partners, and anyone who cares about solving the climate crisis.
Last year’s Badass in Green Awards sold out, so you don’t want to miss it! VIP tickets include access to the Badass Pre-Reception with presenters, honorees, and special guests.

Microsoft’s commitment to being carbon negative by 2030 exemplifies true climate leadership. Taking carbon neutrality a step further, Microsoft is leading the pack by actively removing the emissions from the atmosphere that the company has emitted since its founding. Their charge to fund removal technologies with the $1 billion Climate Innovation Fund sets a notable benchmark for world-wide corporate responsibility. Microsoft was also a vocal supporter of EnviroVoters’ sponsored bill SB 253, championing transparent and accountable corporate behavior in combating climate change. Â
Project Super Bloom is California’s only PAC founded and led by young people and students, dedicated to electing progressive and visionary candidates to CA’s state legislature. Their disruptive methods to elect progressive climate champions, including most recently Caroline Menjivar in the State Senate, and their commitment to saving the planet has made clear what’s possible with courageous leadership.  Their innovative approach successfully mobilizes high school and college students through paid opportunities and removes barriers to access and participation in the political process.Â
Melanie Nakagawa brings to Microsoft almost two decades of environmental sustainability experience at the nexus of policy, business and technology, which will be vital as Microsoft continues their sustainability journey. Melanie most recently served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Climate and Energy on the National Security Council at the White House, one of several roles she has held in the U.S. government. At the White House, Melanie played a leadership role on international and domestic climate initiatives, as well as energy issues that included the international energy response to the war in Ukraine.Â
This built on Melanie’s prior work, including as the director of climate strategy for a climate tech-focused private equity firm working with growth stage companies in North America, Europe and Asia. She also brings experience in the nonprofit and academic sectors on environmental and energy policy and regulatory issues.Â
Ana Karen Estrada is a first-generation college student graduating this year from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Ana grew up in the San Fernando Valley in a working-class household and is prideful in her Mexican-American roots. She enjoys conducting advocacy and political work that involves uplifting her community and creating spaces to increase youth involvement. She serves on various youth-powered platforms, including being on the Executive Board of the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats (SFVYD) as a College Liaison representing CSUN, President of the Matador Democrats, and now in her new role as Chair of the Board of Directors for Project Super Bloom PAC. Ana is ecstatic to continue fulfilling Project Super Bloom PAC’s mission of getting more progressive candidates elected with a history of advocating for youth values while breaking down barriers and providing paid opportunities for students to participate in politics.Â
Eric Warmoth co-founded Project Super Bloom in 2021 to create a pathway for more students to get involved in state legislative campaigns via paid opportunities. Eric has worked on a number of campaigns throughout California and the nation, working to elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot. He recently completed a fellowship in the California State Assembly with Assemblymember Chris Ward. Eric graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2022 with a degree in Environmental Analysis and Public Policy.Â
Senator Caroline Menjivar, MSW, was elected in 2022 to represent Burbank and San Fernando Valley in California’s 20th Senate District. The daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, she was born and raised in the communities she now serves. Senator Menjivar served in the Marine Corps from 2009 to 2016, after which she attained a Master of Social Welfare from University of California, Los Angeles. While attending classes, she worked the graveyard shift as an emergency medical technician (EMT) and was a fellow on the L.A. Mayor’s Gender Equity Team.Â
As State Senator, she is dedicated to championing policies that elevate the people of her communities and Californians. Senator Caroline Menjivar is Chair of Budget Subcommittee #3 on Health and Human Services, a Commissioner for the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, and a member of the San Fernando Valley Marine Corps League.Â
Prior to being elected Speaker, Rivas served as the Chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee and as Vice-Chair of the influential Latino Legislative Caucus. A lifelong resident of the 29th Assembly District, Rivas previously served two terms on the San Benito County Board of Supervisors prior to becoming an Assemblymember. A long-time champion of the environment, Rivas won bipartisan support for the Oil Transportation Safety Act, which improved the state’s preparedness to protect coastal regions after a potential spill of non-floating oil. Further, Rivas has led efforts to accelerate the construction of renewable energy and ensure the state explores all options to use public lands and oceans to effectively sequester carbon.Â
Rivas graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from CSU Sacramento and later earned a Master’s in Public Administration from San Jose State University. Speaker Rivas lives in Hollister with his wife, Christen, and their children.Â
